Yamaha MOXF keyboard to control Mainstage?

I can't find any way to assign the buttons of the MOXF keyboard to Mainstage buttons. Also, if I reset the patch numbers, the MOXF can't change patches anymore. I would like to have a keyboard like the MOXF on a gig - so, if my Mainstage sounds failed I would have a backup keyboard. However, it seems like none of the buttons work like dedicated keyboard controller buttons.

According the MOXF data list, your keyboard sends and receives MIDI data. The MIDI window at the top of the edit page in MainStage will indicate if data is received. If this isn't happening, check the MIDI settings in the MOXF.
